As a therapist and supervisor, I offer my clients and supervisees a blend of humanity and professionalism.
Humanity
I love my work as a therapist. I believe every person’s life is precious and unique. I find it deeply rewarding to channel my energies to support my clients as they seek more rewarding and meaningful ways of living their lives.
I offer clients a steady and consistent presence in their week and am deeply committed to their wellbeing, self-discovery and growth. I respond humanely and compassionately to my clients and affirm their courage in the face of adversity.
I have a natural, down-to-earth style and work in a respectful, soulful, intuitive, insightful and collaborative way with clients. I will always work at a pace and depth that is attuned to each individual.
My hope is that through therapy my clients will have more choices available to them, more flexibility in their responses to situations as well as greater compassion for themselves. It is a joy when that unfolds over the course of therapy.
These are important aspects of how I approach my work as a supervisor with supervisees too.
Professionalism
I’m professionally trained in an approach called Gestalt Psychotherapy, having completed a five-year training programme at the Gestalt Centre London accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and with the UKCP and abide by their code of ethics.
For several years, I was also employed at one of London’s most respected hospices as a senior counsellor. Here I offered individual counselling to patients with a wide range of life-limiting illnesses, their family members and bereaved clients, as well as running groups, supervising volunteers and teaching medical students.
Previously, I ran a successful Big Lottery-funded service, supporting people bereaved through another person’s drug or alcohol misuse for the leading national bereavement charity Cruse. I have also offered long-term therapy to clients in a low-cost community counselling service on a voluntary basis.
I started my career running communications teams in an international charity and two central government policy units responsible for tackling social exclusion and for criminal justice reform. It has been immensely rewarding and a great privilege to retrain as a therapist.
I am currently nearing the end of my training as a clinical supervisor and aim to complete UKCP accreditation as a clinical supervisor in early 2025.
